Incorporating an exhilarating back-porch section to their set with resonator, washboard and ukulele bass, The Hardchargers are steeped in inspiration from the greats of the pre-electric blues – Blind Willie McTell, Blind Willie Johnson, Bukka White, Willie Brown – to the progenitors of electric blues such as Lightnin’ Hopkins, Howlin’ Wolf and Frankie Lee Simms.
Featuring Lonesome Chris Todd (guitars/vocal), Richard J. Hodgen (drums/washboard) and Dave Thompson (bass/ukulele bass), the band has been paying its dues on the live circuit for the past eight years.
After a slew of single releases, the trio’s late 2017 debut album ‘Scarecrow’ constitutes a truly high-octane and contemporary set that nonetheless summons at times and most deliciously the spirit of British genre giants Savoy Brown and The Groundhogs.
