‘Great tunes, great energy, great arrangements, great stuff!’ Jon Boden (Spiers & Boden, Bellowhead)
BBC Radio 2 ‘Young Folk Award Nominees’, Granny’s Attic – Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne (Melodeon, Concertina, Vocals), George Sansome (Guitar, Vocals) and Lewis Wood (Fiddle, Mandolin, Vocals) – are a British folk trio who channel the tradition with verve, energy and their own inimitable style.
These three young men are all exceptional musicians and fine singers and play English traditional and original compositions.
Formed in 2009, they have appeared at clubs and festivals up and down the country, and have been heralded for their lively performances and maturity beyond their years in their delivery and selection of traditional songs.
Produced and recorded by Sean Lakeman, “Wheels Of The World” is their third album, following the acclaimed “Off the Land”, itself a solid mix of traditional songs, tunes and a number of Lewis’s own tunes, released in August 2016.
And it likewise follows the band’s continued trajectory toward further acclaim for their innovative and incisive contemporising of the tradition without detriment to its root values.
