Buy the album – buy the book … Eleanor McEvoy has published this wonderful lyric book to accompany the release of her latest album – “Naked Music”.  In addition to getting to know the words better, there’s the visionary work of the late artist Chris Gollon accompanying them that takes publication to a new level.

20 x 30cm – 64 pages – 24 Gollon paintings – full colour throughout – introduction by Jackie Hayden …

“Naked Music-The Songbook” also features an introductory essay by best-selling author Jackie Hayden exploring
the nature of such collaborations, alongside interviews with both Gollon and McEvoy about the evolution of their boundary- crossing partnership.

Product Description

Art aficionados have already singled out Gollon’s interpretations of McEvoy’s recordings of ‘Deliver Me’, ‘Please Heart You’re Killing Me’, ‘Whisper a Prayer to the Moon’ and her inventive reworking of Thomas Moore’s ‘Oft In the Stilly Night’ for special attention.

The seeds for McEvoy and Chris Gollon becoming creatively involved were sown when she bought Gollon’s painting ‘Champagne Sheila’ after spotting it in a London gallery. In February 2015, while on tour in the UK, Eleanor visited Chris’s exhibition “Incarnation, Mary and Women from the Bible” in Guildford Cathedral in Norwich.

That evening he attended McEvoy’s sold-out show in The Bicycle Shop and she asked him if he would be interested in doing the art work for the cover of her incoming latest release. Chris agreed and was so taken with the songs he completed four paintings in response – two on the ‘Naked’ theme, and two related to song titles and lyrics.

Eleanor was so pleased with paintings she used all four in the album artwork.
